A true witness to the growing developments of Vasai the Janaki Chitramandir has stood tall in time.

Started by Mamasaheb Mohol in the early 40’s as a touring theater company it progressed to a permanent tent structure in the early 60’s. The modern theater building as of now was built in the eighties by Bhausaheb Mohol with a massive capacity and modern infrastructures like parking spaces, waiting attriums, bigger screen and sound systems. The theater was soon popular for exhibiting some of the major hits of that time with jubilee ceremonies. Bhausaheb Mohol then the president of Vasai nagarparishad and a social activist at heart always ensured display of good clean regional and family entertainer movies at Janaki and that too at reasonable ticket rates which which is still prevailing.

Moving with times, and as Vasai progresses Janaki Chitramandir today is again on the brink of a major facelift with plans for a multiplex coming very soon.
